About the project

Vascroft are currently acting as Principal Contractor on the bespoke Phoenix Project, adjacent to Hyde Park Corner. Originally designed by Thomas Cundy III and constructed between 1867–1869, these Grade II listed buildings at 6 Grosvenor Place were once the home of Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, former Prime Minister of Great Britain. Initially built as two grand French Renaissance townhouses, the properties were combined into a single residence, including the mews building to Pembroke Street (now Headfort Place), by 1919.

Between 1919–1954, the property operated as a private women’s club before later conversion to office use by The Gulf Oil Company.

The current scheme will return the building to long-term active use as a luxury private members’ club for all genders, with premium office accommodation on the 2nd and 3rd floors and a public café facing Halkin Street.

The project encompasses a comprehensive programme of repairs and refurbishment of the historic fabric both externally and internally. Works include significant structural alterations, fabric upgrades, luxury fit-out, and new MEP installations. Completion is anticipated in 2026, culminating in an exceptional members’ club of the highest standard.
