About the project

In 2019, Vascroft completed the construction of this luxury five-star, 125-bedroom hotel in the heart of Shoreditch. The project involved retaining the façade of a late Victorian warehouse, preserving the character of the site while delivering a contemporary new development.

The works required demolition of derelict buildings classified as dangerous structures, including the safe removal of significant quantities of asbestos. During demolition, the original façades were stabilised with a temporary support system to allow them to form a striking focal point of the completed scheme.

The project featured the creation of two new basement levels, formed by contiguous piled retaining walls installed around the entire site perimeter, with excavation exceeding 8 metres in depth. Above this, a five-storey concrete frame was constructed, clad externally and fitted out to an exceptionally high standard.

Interiors were finished with bespoke joinery and soft furnishings throughout the public areas and bedrooms, delivering a refined sense of opulence and luxury in line with the client’s vision.
