A proud milestone for the Vascroft team, The Westin London City was successfully delivered in October 2021, located on the banks of the iconic River Thames.
This landmark project involved the demolition and transformation of an existing office building into a new 10-storey, 222-bedroom luxury hotel. The development includes nine high-end apartments, a swimming pool, a state-of-the-art gym, and a wellness centre positioned above the preserved Roman baths.
The complex site combined three separate plots divided by active roads, with a bridged section spanning multiple lanes of traffic—a remarkable feat of engineering and coordination. The project also created a public walkway along the river’s north bank.
Throughout construction, the team overcame significant challenges, from protecting archaeological remains to implementing innovative construction techniques to achieve the interior designer’s vision. The exceptional craftsmanship and collaboration among engineers, designers, contractors, and suppliers were central to the project’s success, showcasing Vascroft’s expertise in delivering landmark hospitality schemes to the highest standards.

“I am the Managing Director of 4C Hotels. We contracted with Vascroft Contractors who acted as Principal Contractors to construct The Westin Hotel London City which involved the demolition and new build construction of a hotel and residences and includes the construction of a reinforced concrete frame up to 7-8 storeys and 5 storeys over a live carriage way in the City of London. They truly stepped up to the mark on taking on this extremely challenging project.
The exceptional project team were able to navigate through various facets of the build seamlessly. The works include the full fit out including building services. The site is in close proximity to St. Paul’s Cathedral and neighbours are predominately a mix of residential tenants, commercial and retail. The project teams consisted of a diverse group consisting of a mixture of young professionals and experienced management staff, maintained excellent relations with neighbours.
This was recognised by; Considerate Contractors Scheme who identified this team as achieving performance beyond compliance. In addition, The City of London’s Considerate Constructors Scheme awarded the team a gold award which was issued by the Chair of the Planning and Transport Committee of the City of London. Quite aptly awarded due to the attention to detail all that were involved in this project. “
