We are proud to announce that our Bridewell Place Hotel project has recently achieved a Gold Award from the City of London Considerate Contractor Scheme, receiving an outstanding overall score of 43/45 by CCS.

The project achieved:

  • Respect the Community: 15/15
  • Care for the Environment: 13/15
  • Value their Workforce: 15/15

The recognition reflects the team’s ongoing commitment to delivering construction excellence responsibly, sustainably, and with genuine consideration for the people and communities surrounding the project.

Significant Progress on Site

As highlighted in the report:

“This is the second visit to the project, and they have made significant progress. The demolition is now complete, and the steel framework has been installed across the first two upper floors, with three additional floors remaining to be constructed.”

The report also noted the complexity of the works currently underway:

“The project continues to maintain high standards and comply with code requirements. It is currently in the core phase of major works, with various activities occurring simultaneously. Despite this, the team is maintaining a high level of tidiness throughout the site, with waste clearly placed in designated areas and walkways kept clear and well-marked with adequate signage.”

Bridewell remains on track for completion in March 2027, with teams continuing to adapt and progress through evolving site requirements and logistical challenges.

Respecting the Community

Maintaining positive relationships with neighbours, local stakeholders, and the wider community remains a central focus throughout the project lifecycle.

The CCS report recognised the proactive measures being implemented to minimise disruption:

“The project has noise, dust, and vibration monitors in place around the project and operates a green, amber, and red system for the readings, which are closely monitored due to the demolition.”

“Reading reports are sent to the council monthly, and measures are taken to reduce disruption as much as possible.”

The inspection also praised the effectiveness of the protective measures installed around the site:

“Monarflex is around the scaffolding as well as reduction sheeting, which is really effective”.

The project team has also remained highly engaged with education and employment initiatives within the local area, including:

  • College and secondary school career talks
  • Graduate work experience placements
  • Delivering commitments under the Section 106 Agreement through apprenticeships, students, and local labour targets

The report highlighted that the project is currently achieving 15% local labour participation.

Driving Environmental Responsibility

Environmental performance has been a key priority across the Bridewell project, with significant progress made since the initial CCS visit.

The report stated:

“They have successfully diverted 100% of their waste from landfills, with waste collected”.

In addition, the team has implemented a number of sustainability-focused initiatives across the project, including:

  • Removal of diesel-powered excavators from site
  • PIR sensor-controlled lighting throughout welfare and site areas
  • Carbon footprint monitoring and project-specific target setting
  • Compliance with ISO 14001 and BREEAM standards
  • Commitment to delivering a post-project impact report.

Valuing the Workforce

The Bridewell project achieved a perfect 15/15 score in the “Value their Workforce” category, recognising the strong culture, welfare standards, and safety-first approach established on site.

The report highlighted a range of workforce wellbeing initiatives, including:

  • Weekly free fruit distribution
  • Board games available in welfare areas
  • Improved welfare facilities and accessibility measures
  • Mental health first aiders within the team
  • Weekly health and safety inspections
  • Fully trained on-site health and safety management

The report also praised the project’s ongoing improvements:

“The project has successfully implemented several recommendations outlined in this section.”

As workforce numbers continue to grow alongside project progression, maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment remains a priority for the entire team.
